Beginner’s Pottery Wheel

Class Overview:

Jump into ceramics with a seasoned local potter and transform mud into your new favorite vessel - be it a mug, a bowl, a vase, or anything you can imagine.

Learn to prepare, throw, trim, and glaze ceramics on the pottery wheel.  Temporary Clay Studio access time and class clay are included in this expanded course.

Feel inspired and want to work on your projects outside of the standard class time, or just get involved in the Clay Community at LAC?  You got it!  This class grants you access to our Clay Studio during the times that the Lander Art Center is open to the public, giving you a huge boost towards developing your skills and experience in the Studio.

What you'll learn:

  • Preparing and understanding hydration of clay

  • Throwing: center, open, pull, and shape clay

  • Trimming and decoration: finalize your pieces & shape

  • Glazing: add color and texture to your work
