About the Lander Art Center
Since 2003, the Lander Art Center (LAC) has grown from a grassroots effort by a handful of local artists into a dynamic cultural hub in the heart of Fremont County. What began as a vision to carve out space for art in a town without one has become a cornerstone of creative life in the region.
Formally established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2004, LAC started with pop-up shows, hands-on classes, and artist-run supply sales. The idea was simple but powerful: give artists a place to thrive, share their work, and connect with the community. That spirit of accessibility, collaboration, and creative growth still drives us today.
LAC now serves as a home for exhibitions, education, and expression, with something for everyone. We host rotating shows that highlight both emerging and established artists. We offer year-round classes for kids, teens, and adults. Our programs support makers through open studio time, ceramics access, professional development, and a growing network of creative resources. In 2024, we expanded our youth offerings by integrating the visual arts programming of Art Link Wyoming into our educational model, strengthening our commitment to the next generation of artists and creatives.
Signature community events like SummerFest (formerly RiverFest) and Art in the Afternoon celebrate local talent and bring together art, music, food, and connection. These seasonal fundraisers help keep our doors open and our programs thriving.
At its core, the Lander Art Center believes that art is for all. We are here to make that belief real, visible, and alive.
