How class pricing works

If you came here looking for a scholarship application, you are in the right place. We replaced it with something simpler.

On pricing

Our classes use self-selected pricing. The listed tuition is the standard rate, and if a lower price helps you take part, enter SUPPORTED at checkout for the reduced rate. No application and no explanation needed. We trust you to choose what is right for you.

The steps

1

Pick a class. The listed tuition is the standard rate, and most people pay it.

2

Choose your rate. If a lower price helps you take part, enter SUPPORTED at checkout and the reduced rate applies on the spot.

3

Go to class. There is nothing to submit and no one to wait on. The reduced rate works any time, even the night before class starts.

What it covers

SUPPORTED works on every class we offer, kids' and adults'. It does not apply to drop-in sessions, punch passes, or memberships, which have a single set price.

The old application

We read those essays and decided we never wanted to ask a kid to write one again.

For years, help with tuition meant an application. It asked for a family's income bracket, their household size, and their employer's name, and it asked the student to write an essay about why the class mattered to them, all due a week before the first session. We read those essays and decided we never wanted to ask a kid to write one again. The application is gone. If you choose the reduced rate, nobody is notified and your teacher never knows.

How we afford it

The gap between the standard rate and the reduced rate is real money, and someone covers it: people who give to LAC, and local businesses that contribute to our Youth Scholarship Fund, which also funds summer camp seats and studio time for kids.
