Laurie LaMere & Sharon Schell
Laurie and Sharon have been friends for many years and have both lived in Wyoming for 40 plus years. They came together as artists to collaborate on this show, which showcases their different perspectives of and approaches to art.
Laurie has always been inspired by her earthly surroundings, be it landscapes or relics from the past which she uses in her still life paintings. Most recently, her inspiration has come from painting the mountains, lakes, and streams of Wyoming “en plein air”, representing the part of earth that she inhabits. Thus, the “Earth” portion of the show.
Clay has always spoken strongly to Sharon. Sculpture has proven to be her favorite form of working with clay, though she is also intrigued with the many different types of firing. The techniques displayed in this show are raku, horsehair, and smoke firings. Thus, the “Fire” portion of the show.
