We can always use volunteers!
The Lander Art Center is a non-profit organization. We rely partially on state and private grants to exist. Logged volunteer hours can be used as matching sources when we write grants and also show community support, which is very important to us!
Some of the volunteer jobs you might do here at the LAC:
Help to hang an exhibition:
- paint pedestals
- measure artwork, apply a simple math formula, and write the numbers on a sticky note attached to the artwork
- use a screwdriver to move picture hangers to correct height for each artwork on rods
- fill nail holes
- use Magic Eraser to clean wall or pedestals
- clean glass/plexi-glass on framed artwork
- bring a food dish (50 pieces) to an opening reception
Help at special events and fundraisers:
- booth-sit for artists at Riverfest or Art in the Afternoon
- attend entry at Riverfest to collect donations
- sell tickets/ attend entry at Oktoberfest
- attend entry at Heart of the West Art Show
- unpack/repack artwork for Heart of the West
- set-up or decorate for Valentine Wine and Cocolate fundraiser
- donate chocolate dish for Valentine Wine and Chocolate fundraiser
- take-down or clean-up for Valentine Wine and Chocolate fundraiser
Help with classes: We can always use class assistants.
- help instructor to set-up supplies
- help children with project, gently suggest ideas and make observations
- help clean-up which includes putting away supplies, wiping tables, and sweeping floor
