CLASS PAYMENT and REFUND POLICY
          • Payment is due at the time of registration
          • Payment guarantees enrollment in a class
          • Your spot in a class is reserved once paid
          • Refunds are given up to one week prior to a class
          • You may transfer your registration fee to another class if cancellation is made within 48 hours of the class start date/time.
          • If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, we will contact you prior to class and all class fees will be refunded

    320 Clay Open Studio


    Tuesdays, October 1 - December 10

    Time: 6-9 pm

    Cost: $10 drop-in, $40/ 5 session punch card.

    Studio Facilitator: Sam Rastatter

    Location: 320 Studio, 320 Main Street.

    Potters and clay artists are welcome to join the Lander Art Center clay open studio program at 320 Studio. We have 5 potters’ wheels, a slab roller, a pug mill and lots of table space. We have a kiln that fires to cone 6. We sell clay in 25 lb bags for $15. The 320 Clay Studio is available to past LAC clay class participants, people who have taken the Beginner Orientation, or experienced potters.

    Students will develop creative talents while making unique art pieces. The program is divided into 3 blocks.  Sign up for the whole series for $130 and save $20. Students can also sign up for individual blocks.

    Dive into the endless possibilities of clay. Learn the basic methods of handbuilding - coiling, pinching and building with slabs. You will learn the whole clay process, and come away with finished, glazed pieces that express your individual creativity.

    Digital Photography Basics

    Tuesdays, October 15, 22, 29, November 5

    Have a digital camera but not quite sure how to use it to take great photos? This classroom-based workshop is designed to teach beginners the basics of digital photography. Students will practice what they've learned each week with assignments provided by Ron. Topics will include camera settings, lighting, composition, and photo editing.     Embroidery for Embellishment

    Join Maggie for an introduction to three different hand embroidery techniques: traditional, sashiko, and shisha. The class will begin with a sampler to practice basic stitches followed by instruction on these different techniques. Students are encouraged to bring three items they would like to embellish using the different stitches taught in class. All materials will be provided.

    Halloween String Art

    Thursday, October 31

    Time: 5 - 7 pm

    Cost: $45

    Celebrate Halloween with Lander Art Center! Students will begin the evening by painting the background of their 12”x12” board.  After creating an image template, students will secure nails to their board and use embroidery thread to complete the design. Light snacks and beverages will be provided and class will end with time to participate in other Halloween activities around town. This class is part of the new adult creative series.

    Beginner Clay Orientation

    Cost: $35 includes clay and instruction

    Curious about clay? Want to make your own pottery? Come to the Lander Art Center’s Beginner Clay Orientation class at the 320 Clay Studio. In one night you will learn how to use the equipment in the studio and get a basic introduction to working with clay. After taking the beginner orientation you will be able to drop in at the open studio program and work on your own creations.

    Silk Scarves: Japanese Shibori and Serti Silk Painting

    Friday, November 15, 6-8 pm

    Cost: $85

    Instructor: Maggie Bell

    Location: Lander Art Center, 224 Main Street.

    Join Maggie at the Art Center to learn beautiful silk dyeing and painting techniques. Shibori is the Japanese art of creating patterns by binding, stitching, folding and twisting fabric during the dyeing process. Serti silk painting involves creating an outlined pattern with a water based resist and dyeing the fabric design. Each student will complete a sampler, one Shibori style scarf, and one silk painting piece. All materials provided.

    Rolling Mill Textured Jewelry

    Thursday, November 21

    Time: 6 - 9 pm

    Instructor: Lennie Poitras

    We will create earrings, pendants and cuffs by using found materials and brass texture plates to texture copper sheet run through a rolling mill. This class will be part of the Adult Creative Series.
