Opening January 27, 6-8 pm

The Lander Art Center and the Lander Pet Connection are holding a joint fundraiser January 27 - March 25, 2012.   The fundraiser will take place as an exhibition of artwork inspired by pets and pet ownership in our community.  All artwork will be for sale and proceeds will be split 50/50 between the Lander Art Center and the Lander Pet Connection.

Although the details of our missions are different, the Lander Art Center and the Lander Pet Connection are both working hard to make Lander an even better place to live.  Expressing one’s self through the creation of art soothes one’s soul similar to spending time with your pet.

Process Information

Photographs of animals adopted through the Lander Pet Connection will be available at www.landerpets.org for your perusal and inspiration.  You may also use your own pet or photograph for inspiration.  The only criterion is that the subject matter depicts a pet of some sort.  Lizards, turtles, hamsters, dogs, cats, and horses are all welcome.

Hardboard panels will be supplied, size to be determined by the available materials (likely no larger than 12" x 12").  All mediums are accepted.  If your medium is photography, or you would like to create on paper, we ask that you use the hardboard panel as a mount.  Please leave a 1/4" margin while using the entire surface, i.e. do not leave a border unless it is part of your composition. Details and exceptions can be discussed.

Completed artwork will be due on January 7, 2012.  This will give us time to frame the artwork or install a hanging device as needed before installation begins on January 23.

All artwork will be sold for $100. As mentioned above, all profits will be split between the Lander Pet Connection and the Lander Art Center 50/50.

Participation

We would love it if you would like to participate! Please call the Lander Art Center to sign-up by July 15, 2011 to receive your ticket to the Lander Pet Connection VIP Wine and Cheese Event.  This will enable us to cut the right amount of panels and plan ahead for the size of the show.

All participating artists will receive notoriety and a $10 gift certificate to apply towards a future class at the Lander Art Center. In addition, the Lander Pet Connection would like to invite every artist confirmed to the VIP Wine and Cheese Event to celebrate the opening of the Syd Miller Animal Rescue and Adoption Center when the construction is complete.
